E-mail Filter Manager Installation Instructions

Preface

This software was designed to be used in conjunction with the FutureQuest.net e-mail filters available through the CNC. The software is offered on an "as is" basis, there is no warranty either real or implied. While the software has been tested, the user is advised to create a test e-mail account and conduct further testing before using the filters on a "live" e-mail account.

Note: This program is NOT part of FutureQuest and they are in no way responsible for its creation or implementation.

Installation

Step 1: Using either an FTP program or the File Manager in the CNC (Command 'N' Control), create a new directory in your home (root) directory called "emailfilter". Your home directory is located above the WWW directory (eg. /big/dom/xdomain/emailfilter).

Step 2: Change the directory permissions on the new (ie. "emailfilter") directory to rwxrwxrwx (777).

Step 3: Next move to your WWW directory and create a new directory for the E-mail Filter Manager called "efm" (eg. /big/dom/xdomain/www/efm). It is important that this directory is located in your WWW directory so it can be accessed by a web browser. You may choose a dirrent name for this directory if you wish, however it will be refered to as the "efm" directory in these instructions and the Online Help. You may use the default permissions of rwxr-xr-x (755) for this directory.

Step 5: Upload the file called "index.php" to the "efm" directory you created in your WWW directory (Step 3). Be certain to upload the file as BINARY.

Step 6: Run your web browser and access the "efm" directory where the index.php file was uploaded to (eg. http://www.mydomain.tld/efm/ ). The first time you access this directory you should see the Manager program welcome screen. Follow the prompts and in a few minutes you should have your first filters set-up and ready for testing. Be sure to read the online help file (available from the main screen) for complete information on how to configure your filters. Once you have configured your filters, you'll need to access the Email Manager in the CNC to activate them (the Online Help file will guide you through this process).

Good luck and I hope you find this program useful. If you have any comments or questions, you may contact me at webmaster@diamond-back.com or post your questions in the FutureQuest form at http://www.aota.net/forums/.
